Pete the Cat has a new take on the 12 Days of Christmas in this holiday edition。 Each verse is cast as something for a road trip to the beach where a rocking party is held。 The repeated lines make this an easy book for young readers to read and to read with others。 Rhymed verses and the number pattern make the text on each page fairly predictable。 Lovers of Pete will like this book。 A fun book for the holidays。

Pete the Cat wants to give some groovy presents to his friends and take them on an awesome road trip to the sea。I have worked in public library youth services for over 3 years and I freely admit I have never actually read a Pete the Cat book， despite the countless times I have helped patrons to find them （aka despite their popularity）。。。I just think the art is kind of ugly。So why， you ask， do I rate this one as four stars？ Because this is a really creative， funny take on an old classic song。 I'v Pete the Cat wants to give some groovy presents to his friends and take them on an awesome road trip to the sea。I have worked in public library youth services for over 3 years and I freely admit I have never actually read a Pete the Cat book， despite the countless times I have helped patrons to find them （aka despite their popularity）。。。I just think the art is kind of ugly。So why， you ask， do I rate this one as four stars？ Because this is a really creative， funny take on an old classic song。 I've read （I mean sung） this for about 6 groups this holiday season， groups from 5 to 111 in size， and I think every group had quite a few who enjoyed it。 I heartily sang it each time and would also enlist the audience to help sing certain lines。 With each group I would have them sing "Groovy" with me （which appears at the bottom of most pages） and， once we got to the parts proceeding the "Five onion rings！，" would also have them help me with that line as well。 I incorporated exaggerated actions for each of those things so the younger kids would know when to come in and could join me in the action， if they wanted to。 The majority of people in my groups were preschoolers but there were a few older kids and adults who got really into it。 I think it would also work great with a lower elementary （and maybe even upper） group。 。。。more

This is such a fun book to read around Christmas time！！ I read this to a group of preschoolers recently and they loved it。 I read it aloud and they thought it was funny since I read/sang it。 I think it would be fun to read with kindergarteners or first graders。 I will definitely keep this book title in mind for future reference。

I liked having a different Christmas vibe。 Groovy Christmas beach wasn’t a half bad place to land。 Wished there was a little more to it for my personal taste。。 but I imagine true Pete the Cat fans will enjoy this all the same。
